We wanted to get out and experience more this year. Taking the cameras gave us a way to bring some of it back, although getting through the photos afterwards has taken a little longer than we’d like to admit.
Donegal was part of those travels. It’s easy to come home from a weekend away and move straight onto whatever’s next, especially when there are photos to sort and other plans already in motion. Putting this together has been a good excuse to go back through it all and give those weekends a bit more space.
Some photos are worth keeping for the cars in them. Others mean more to us because we remember who was there and what we were doing at the time. We wanted to include a bit of both here.
Of course, very unfortunate and sad incident at this years event. We truly hope that incidences like the ones that happened, will not occur in the future.
Ultrace took us further afield and gave us plenty to take in. As we’ve spent more time working on StreetRelease, we’ve become interested in how other people bring everything together—the cars, the clothing, the presentation and the event itself.
We’re still developing our own taste and figuring out how we want StreetRelease to look and feel. Travelling gives us more to draw from. Sometimes it helps you put your finger on something you’ve been trying to work out for a while; other times you just come home with more ideas than you have time for.
Of course, we were there to enjoy ourselves too. Having a camera with you can make it tempting to spend the whole day thinking about the next shot. There’s a lot to be said for putting it down for a while and enjoying being there with your mates.
Oh yeah, the cherry on top for this trip too.
That time together became something we wanted to make room for closer to home. SR Social was our chance to get friends together for something of our own.
After travelling to other events throughout the summer, it felt good to put that time into a gathering for the people around us.
We wanted it to feel relaxed. Bring your car, spend some time with everyone and have a reason to get together beyond the usual messages about how we should organise something soon.
There’s a personal side to StreetRelease that doesn’t always come across in a finished photo or a clothing release. Friends have been part of it from the beginning, and having them involved in an evening like this felt like a good way to share what we’ve been building.
Looking through the photos now, I’m glad we made it happen. It’s easy to keep putting these things off while you wait for more time or for every detail to be ready. Having everyone together gave us something we’ll remember, and something we’d like to do more of.
Thanks to everyone who spent part of their summer with us, whether that was on a trip, at an event or at SR Social. We’ve come away with plenty to work on, but also a lot of good memories with the people who’ve been part of it.
Here are a few of ours.
